10 great restaurants in Tignes
Not too many towns with 2 500 inhabitants have a Michelin-restaurant offering a mind-blowing (but pricy) dining experience. Tignes does. The Savoyard star chef Clément Bouvier opened Ursus last year and for foodies it’s a must to celebrate your ski vacation with a top-notch dinner. We promise an experience you won’t forget in the dark, forest inspired restaurant setting in Val Claret.
But no worries. Even if your wallet doesn’t allow star restaurants there is plenty to choose from. Enjoy a hot chocolate and a cake at Grizzly’s Bar after skiing or enjoy a glass of wine in front of their cosy fireplace. Or why not sit outdoor in an old chair lift pimped with sheep skins, at Coeur des Neiges in Tignes Le Lac, and taste a real French Galette?
Being situated close to the Italian boarder Tignes offers plenty of great Italian food. But there is also lots of classic ski joints with burgers, meat and fish – the area offers plenty of choices from the Ocean on most menus.
But when you get sick of French classics like steak frites and crepes – try Tex-Mex or Japanese sushi?
You’re simply spoilt for choice, regardless of whether you’re looking for a quiet moderately priced family dinner (try XXX) or a luxury lounge dinner at new hot spot Kaya in Le Lac.
For Après Ski there is nothing like an outdoor ski boot party at Cocorico, located next to the ski lifts in Val Claret. Live music on the outdoor stage and a view of the mountain makes this the place to have that well deserved beer post-skiing. The atmosphere is captured by the sign on the wall: Cocorico is not a chain, it’s a family.
