Gran Canarias top beachfront hotels
With some of Europe’s best beaches, Gran Canaria continues to top travelers’ lists.
Location, location, location
Seaside Palm Beach
Situated just a stone’s throw from the world-famous dunes of Maspalomas, Seaside Palm Beach was Maspalomas’s original upscale hotel. The dunes are now an official Nature Reserve, ensuring no further construction on the beach, thus safeguarding the hotel’s unique situation. Originally built in 1975, five-star Seaside Palm Beach has been meticulously retro-renovated, maintaining its 1970s design details, but incorporating modern features. The spectacular pool area is splendid for lounging, while the lavish breakfast buffet makes it worth getting up early.
Contemporary luxury
Riu Palace Meloneras
Originally opened in 1997, Riu Palace Meloneras has received a comprehensive makeover, which saw it upgraded from four to five stars. One of the features of the redesigned hotel was the addition of a new building right on the Meloneras promenade with 32 guestrooms, all of which enjoy a unique view of the Atlantic. Riu Palace Meloneras has six swimming pools, a gym, Jacuzzi, and wellness center.
Infinity and beyond
Hotel Lopesan Costa Meloneras, Resort, Spa & Casino
Built as a colonial-style palace hotel, Lopesan Costa Meloneras was inaugurated in 2001. In addition to 76,000 m2 of tropical gardens, the defining feature of the hotel is its stunning infinity pool, which creates an optical illusion of merging into the sea and the horizon.
To the lighthouse
IFA Faro Hotel
Four-star hotel named after the emblematic Maspalomas lighthouse (faro), situated only a few meters away. IFA Faro’s outstanding feature is the stunning view from the balconies of many of the rooms, which extends across the golden dunes of Maspalomas all the way to Playa del Inglés. The hotel has 188 rooms, a spacious sun terrace and a large fresh-water swimming pool with Jacuzzi.
All rooms with a view
Radisson Blu Resort, Gran Canaria
Situated on Gran Canaria’s southern coast, nestled between two beaches and close to the mountains, the Radisson Blu Resort Gran Canaria provides an ideal starting point from which to explore the island. What makes the hotel unique is that each and every one of its 189 rooms and suites comes with an ocean view. Other features of this five-star property include four swimming pools, a garden, tennis courts, gym and spa.
Urban oasis
Hotel Reina Isabel & Spa
With its unique location in central Las Palmas, right on Las Canteras beach, Hotel Reina Isabel is for people who don’t want to have to choose between beach life and city life. With three kilometers of golden sand, Las Canteras is Gran Canaria’s most underrated beach, probably due to its location in the urban heart of the city, close to the marina, restaurants and shopping.
