5 ways to get the most out of your weekend getaway
Book a hotel close to the action
Yes, you could save money by booking a hotel a bit further out but then there’s travel to take into account. What’s more, time spent traveling is time wasted.
Don’t check in your bag
Why waste time waiting for your bag to arrive? It also pays to pack light and dress in layers.
Book a direct flight
Again, there is money to be saved by taking connecting flights but the time spent on layovers and the risk of delays outweighs any financial gain.
Don’t overdo it
Be realistic about what you can fit in. Instead of rushing from one part of the city to the next trying to see it all, concentrate on just one or two places. And try to take a moment and soak up the atmosphere. You don’t want to come back from your vacation and feel like you need another vacation.
Do your homework. If you have no idea of what to expect when you arrive, you will lose a lot of time just figuring it out. Study maps before you go and figure out the best route to take from the airport to your hotel and from your hotel to restaurants and attractions.
And even though it’s hard to predict weeks in advance if you will be in the mood for Italian or Chinese it can be a lifesaver to have at least one dinner reservation up your sleeve.
