The Garden

Exhibition at ARoS and across a 4km zone in Aarhus City and Aarhus Harbor containing works of art that address the human relationship with and changes in nature in the past, the present and the future.

Socle du Monde Biennale

HEART Herning Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting this meeting, where 60 internationally renowned artists discuss, test and examine what is art in seven different contexts.

Hypotheticals – the future of the world

Four full-day debates at Aarhus Theater, where Danish and international intellectuals join Clement Kjærsgaard to discuss the challenges, changes and future of the world.

Røde Orm

This magnificent Viking saga is presented in collaboration with the Royal Danish Theater and Moesgaard Museum and is one of our four mega events. It takes place outdoors on Moesgaard Museum’s huge, grass-covered roof.

Tree of Codes

Combine Jonathan Safran Foer’s Tree of Codes, the Paris Opera Ballet, Olafur Eliasson’s visual designs, music by Jamie xx and choreography by Wayne McGregor. The result is an exceptional heavyweight performance that has taken the world by storm. The five performances in Aarhus are the last chance to see it in Europe.

Horsens State Prison is the setting for theater experiment Freedom Prison.

Freedom prison

At the former Horsens State Prison, 130 actors, musicians and dancers from Aarhus and the rest of Europe come together in a huge, creative theater experiment.

Silkeborg Ildfest Regatta

In the beautiful setting of Silkeborg’s islands and the Gudenå River, the Ildfest Regatta will feature torch-lit river banks, decorated boats and the European Championship of Fireworks. An experience not to be missed.

Water Music - a magical musical show with Oh Land in Randers Industrihavn.

Anohni in Concert

Musician and interdisciplinary artist Anohni (formerly lead singer of Antony and the Johnsons) is Artist in Residence at Aarhus 2017 and is currently recording her new album together with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra. She’ll be giving a very special one-off concert on 18 November 2017.
