Caroline Hedwall's favorite golf courses
British wine merchants brought golf to Portugal in the 19th century, with the country seemingly spawning luxury resorts for honing your swing in their wake. Two-time Solheim Cup winner Caroline Hedwall loves Portugal – and the Campo Real Golf Club – but has a soft spot for Madeira. Although the island is not for those who have a fear of flying. “The landing is quite an experience,” she says.
The reward for enduring one of the world’s most dramatic descents is one of Hedwall’s favorite courses: the Santo da Serra golf club, home of the Madeira Islands Open.
“It’s a challenging course with amazing views,” she says.
Caroline’s favorite golf courses in Scandinavia
Barsebäcks Golf & Country Club (Masters Course)
“My favorite course, and not only because it is my home club. It ranges from parkland on the first seven holes to linksland and then woodland on the back six.”
Klubbhusvägen 5, Löddeköpinge
Rungsted Golf Club
“The first time I saw Tiger Woods play it was here at the SAS Invitational. Of course, I wanted to come back and play the same course myself. It was a few years later and the course was both challenging and in good condition.”
Vestre Stationsvej 16, Rungsted Kyst
Oslo Golf Club
“This is where I won my first European amateur championship. A nice course in a beautiful lakeside setting.”
