California by Quincy Jones III

When he’s not making music, films or fishing, QD3 likes to indulge in another passion of his – food. Here are some of his best tips in his home of California.

Venice Beach boardwalk. The Venice Beach Boardwalk, Venice

Venice has long been a creative hub for artists, musicians and designers. The Boardwalk is a cool melting pot of people and you’ll also hear good street music here. Wherever you sit, are, you’ll rub shoulders with LA’s most creative people.

Sugarfish, Beverly Hills

Fantastic, high-quality sushi at a relatively decent price. The fish is so fresh it melts in your mouth. You’ll find lots of A list celebrities here, if you’re into that kind of thing, but for me, it’s all about the food.

Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur

Big Sur is one of the most beautiful parts of California. Sit on a cliff and look out over the ocean. Great fish, too! The hotel has one of the most breath-taking views I’ve ever seen. Nature at its finest.

Whole Foods, Venice

A large supermarket chain that sells ecological and environmentally-friendly produce. Heaven for people like me who love healthy food. It has also become a popular lunch spot for tech and media crowds.

225 Lincoln Blvd, Los Angeles

SoHo House, West Hollywood

An “invitation-only” club and restaurant. A good place for networking. Jay Z and Beyoncé hold their annual Grammy gala brunch here. It has one of the best views in the city and a fantastic buffet.

Hollywood Bowl, Hollywood

One of the best concert venues in the city. Here, you can see the best artists in the world play (including my dad from time to time). Very romantic in the summer when you can watch a show as the sun goes down. Thank me later!

Runyon Canyon Park, Hollywood

The most well-known running and hiking trail in Los Angeles. From hip-hop to Hollywood, this is where most of the celebs train outdoors. After a run or hike, I hit the juice bar and get a natural high.
