Geir Lundestad’s favorite places
This archipelago has to be seen for the nature there. Lundestad’s wife was born on the island of Vestvagoy and they now have a holiday home there.
A coastal paradise. Lundestad was born in Sulitjelma, but he grew up in Bodø and played soccer for Bodo/Glimt FC for a time. Bodo is a busy port today and on the Hurtigruten coastal express route.
Tromsdalstinden is a must-see. This 1,238-meter mountain peak is a popular tourist destination and a landmark offering spectacular views. The mountain is clearly visible from the city of Tromso.
When I am here I visit different museums and institutions. I have had a long-standing research post at the Woodrow Wilson International Center.
I come to Rome as often as I can, drawn by the city’s fantastic history.

New Dehli – Amritsar
A phenomenally exciting train journey.
“I have been very fortunate to have seen most of the world. These days, crossing time zones is less appealing, but I am keen to visit countries I have never been to before in South America and Africa – as well as Australia.”
