Kristian Riis’ tips for SXSW
“The festival program hasn’t been published in full yet, but there are already a few things I’m looking forward to seeing,” Riis says.
Blockchain talk with Joseph Lubin
Keep track of the program so you don’t miss the talks that could make a difference to you. Like last year, I hope to see some big personalities such as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bernie Sanders, but I would recommend that you also take a look at some of the less familiar names, as the standard of speakers is generally very high. This year, however, I’ll be checking out Joseph Lubin’s keynote speech and finding out more about his work with blockchain.
Run along the Colorado River
Bring your running gear with you. Every year, I run through the city and along the river. It’s a great way to discover the city and also shake off any jet lag you may have.
Our startup session at House of Scandinavia
I’m looking forward to dropping by and meeting the Americans and international guests who want to find out more about what we Nordics really are all about. Of course, I would particularly like to highlight the session at HOS where we at NordicLA have invited Nordic VC fund ByFounders to evaluate potential startups that are ripe for investment.
I’m going to see Swervedriver – because they did something special for the 90s – shoegazing that stands the test of timeSwervedriver is an English alternative rock band from Oxford, who got their breakthrough with the album Mezcal Head in 1993 on the so-called Shoegaze scene, characterized by lots of electric guitars and power pads.
"I'm looking forward to hearing Soft Streak from Los Angeles play because they make dreamy electronic music with strong presence."Soft Streak is an electropop duo consisting of Tori Schachne and Colton Toy. Their debut singel Ride is about breaking a habit and do something crazy without worrying about the consequences.
"Naiboi from Kenya because I'm interested in new African music and would like to get a closer look at the Kenyan music."Singer NaiBoi from Nairobi was formerly known as the rap producer Rapdamu and is established in the Kenyan music industry. As NaiBoi, he has released most hits on the Kenyan market, including songs like I Wanna be, DingDong and Too Much.
