7 great ways to celebrate New Year in New York

It’s true when they say that everything is bigger in America. We can also add that in New York, everything is more fabulous, especially New Year's Eve parties.

“There's something in the New York air that makes sleep useless,” French philosopher Simone de Beauvoir wrote in her book America Day by Day.

It’s an acute observation. And if you’re lucky enough to spend New Year’s Eve in New York City, you should simply join in the fun. You can sleep on the flight home.

Party in Times Square

For the 114th time, New Year will be celebrated in Times Square with concerts, shows, fireworks and tons of confetti. The program has not yet been released, but last year featured Nick Jonas, Sugarland, Camilla Cabello and Mariah Carey. Get there early, as you’ll be one of a million people who gather there for a party that’s broadcast all round the world. The subway is definitely the best transport option that evening.

The New Year fireworks on Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn have become incredibly popular, not least because it’s less packed than the party in Times Square. Thousands of people, including families, gather here for New Year kisses and the colorful and aromatic fireworks display. On Brooklyn Bridge, you’ll be that bit higher and able to view both Manhattan and Brooklyn, giving you the best of both city areas. Think of the Instagram images you can post.
