Blystad's tips on where to eat in New York, Florida and London

Oslo-based designer Julie Josephine Blystad spent some of her youth in America and is fond of both New York and Florida. She also spends a lot of time in London.

Breakfast in the West Village

When you're down in the West Village, I'd eat breakfast at Cafe Cluny. Try the classic Eggs Benedict and Mimosa.

Biking in New York

Rent a bike and cycle from the Upper West Side down to the Meatpacking District. A really nice ride with great views of Manhattan.

Italian in Soho

Cipriani in Soho is a fantastic Italian restaurant that's perfect for lunch. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and serves Italian specialties, so expect the likes of veal shank and risotto. If the weather's nice, you can also eat outside. If you're in SoHo/West Village, it's also worth trying the restaurants Lure, Vandal and Alta.

Shopping at Barney’s

Shopping at Barneys is a definite must. And on top is also a great restaurant, where you'll be able to do some celebrity spottning. There are several different Barney´s but the most famous one is the one on Madison Avenue.

Miami and Florida

If you're in Miami and feeling a bit bored, take a drive up to Delray and Palm Beach. Delray is a sweet little seaside town and you should try the breakfast here at Luna Rosa, a traditional American diner located right next to the beach..

Dinner at El Camino

I would eat at either at El camino, which is a proper Mexican restaurant, or at Trammonti if you're in the mood for Italian food.

Entertaining drive in Palm Beach

If you fancy something a little more exclusive, I'd definitely drive over to Palm Beach. It's fun to drive along the A1A and look at all the large villas located across the way. At the end is Worth Avenue, a street with many wonderful stores. Looks like a postcard.

Hotels in London

Stay at one of the Firmdale Hotels, small boutique hotels at several locations. Find them in Knightsbridge and Soho.

There are lots of great restaurants in Mayfair, London. And good shopping too. Photo: Shutterstock

My favorite places in London are Mayfair, Chelsea and Notting Hill. If you're in Mayfair, it's nice to stroll around Dover Street and have dinner at the cozy Aubaine. Selfridges is right next door. They have the best shopping in my opinion.

There are several other good restaurants for dinner in Mayfair, among them Cecconi's, which is an Italian seafood restaurant.

Lunch in Chelsea

In Chelsea, I eat lunch at The Ivy Chelsea Garden or Daphne's. Super cool places. Take a stroll down the King's Road and along the back streets. There are lots of lovely little boutiques here. You'll also find several good restaurants for lunch at Sloane Square.

Notting Hil

Westbourne Grove in Notting Hill is a super nice street with plenty of great cafés and shops. I recommend breakfast at Granger. They have a large selection of juices, tasty bakery items and lots of great dishes on the menu.
