Guide to Copenhagen’s Christmas markets
H.C. Andersen Christmas Market at Nytorv
The Christmas market at Nytorv has an almost Bavarian feel to it and you’re never far from a stall serving mulled wine, pretzels or bratwursts from a charcoal grill. There are plenty of other things to keep you warm too, such as home-knitted goods, booties, gloves and leather, as well as Vikings serving mead, while Hans Christian Andersen and Santa Claus walk around handing out goodies or high fives to the little ones.
Open: 16 Nov.–21 Dec. 2018
Nyhavn Christmas Market
Nyhavn is one of the most picturesque areas of old Copenhagen and the Christmas market along the quay sells Scandinavian specialties, jewelry, soaps, knitwear, leather and much more, with the nostalgic Christmas atmosphere turned up a notch whenever the old Carlsberg brewery wagon passes by.
