The Computer History Museum in Mountain View marks its 20th anniversary in 2016. View everything from an orange Kitchen Computer, which cost $10,600 at Neiman-Marcus in 1969 and presaged the Internet, to an original Apple II from 1977. Pure nostalgia for anyone over age 35.

For food geeks
Festooned with soccer scarves and colored glass bottles, the Cachagua General Store is only open for Sunday brunch and Monday dinner. Chef Michael Jones does inventive dishes like Amanda’s Furious Sesame Ginger Kale Salad and Berkshire Pork Loin Chops with Mango Chutney. It is well worth the drive to this remote Carmel Valley hideaway.

For movie geeks
Film buffs should check out the Walt Disney Family Museum, housed in renovated brick barracks in the Presidio. Opened in 2009, it’s a serious, scholarly but fun tribute to the man whose namesake company now owns Star Wars. A true cinematic innovator, Walt Disney won more than 900 awards. Many are on display, including his 1938 Oscar for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which features seven miniature golden statuettes.
