I love running along the lake when I’m in Chicago. There’s the Lakefront Trail that stretches 29km which is perfect for a good training session with great views of the city and some of the most beautiful neighborhoods.
The West Egg Café is one of the best breakfast and brunch spots in the city. It’s not a “hidden treasure” but it does attract a nice mix of both locals and visitors to the city. The food is great and the prices are reasonable.

Pack a swimsuit
Lots of hotels have swimming pools or can offer you access to one, so there’s no reason to not take the time to swim and then enjoy a relaxing sauna.
Bring your running gear
You can run literally anywhere, so even if you don’t want to do a full training session, you can always squeeze a few kilometers in between sightseeing. It’s also a great way to see the sights.
Your hotel’s concierge should be able to help you book classes, such as yoga or Pilates. You may even be able to try something new. The point is to keep the momentum going.
