SAS Crew tips: Oslo

When we travel, we sometimes forget that some of the best places to visit are right in our own backyard. SAS flight attendant Turid-Dale Landa didn’t grow up in Oslo, but these days, she calls it home.

Mysterious cocktail bar

Himkok is a cocktail bar, but this one is mysterious, with an anonymous door that makes it a bit difficult to find. It’s a perfect size and the mood is different depending on which floor you’re on.

130 different kinds of gin

Located at Grunerløkka, this is one of my favorite cocktail bars in Oslo. They serve delicious drinks made with real ingredients and they have more than 130 different kinds of gin. The bartenders really know what they’re doing and if you don’t know what you want, they’ll offer you plenty of help.

Drinks and interesting people

Close to Himkok, you’ll also find Kulturhuset, which I love. There is a good atmosphere in this big place, which has lots of different areas to explore. And it’s filled with all sorts of interesting people, who might be there for work or just to take a look at what’s on offer.

The Second Theater

In English, this place is called “The Second Theater.” It has an intimate ambience where you get to meet the actors, who mostly do improvisation. There’s a lot of humor and the audience always gets really involved. It’s a really fun experience.

City park

This park is close to where I live and I like to walk here on Sundays – or take a Sunday trip, as we Norwegians say. It’s a great place to grab a coffee, meet a friend and enjoy nature.

Vigelandsparken

Live music

This is one of my favorite spots to get a fix of jazz. It’s a great club for all kinds of live music, as well as cutting-edge DJs, and you can see big acts from abroad as well as up-and-coming Norwegian musicians. A great outdoor area too!
