Island hopping

Rent a car and drive to the island of Sommar­øya. Drive via ­Katt­fjordeidet on the way there, and stop at Eide Handel to buy a picnic, then swing by Tverrfjellet, which offers spectacular views of the sea and ­islands off the coast. If you’re pushed for time go to Nattmålsfjellet and then stop at Otervika for a swim. Then take a ­detour via Hella on the way back.

Take the bus to the world’s most northerly botanical gardens. You could also combinethis with a visit to the ­Planetarium.
