Singapore’s best bars and restaurants

Singapore is the New York of Southeast Asia, according to Sweden’s Trade Commissioner Emil Akander. Akander is a Swede who has lived and worked there since 2013 and offers us his best bar and restaurant recommendations.

Singapore’s great passion is food, Akander, explains.

“In Singapore, people eat out more than they do at home so there’s an incredibly wide and extensive choice of restaurants. The country is very open to different cultures and cuisines, which makes for tremendous diversification and quality. You rarely eat poor food in Singapore, no matter how cheap,” he says.

He describes Singapore and its food culture as a melting pot of different cultures and claims there is something to suit everyone here.

“Singapore is a bit of a New York of Southeast Asia where you can enjoy the best of all worlds,” he says.
