Six fantastic experiences in Copenhagen - on a budget

Has your bank account been somewhat overdrawn recently? Fear not, you don’t have to be too downhearted. Here are a few things you can do absolutely free or almost next to nothing in the Danish capital.

Head to the top of a ski slope

Copenhagen's latest sensation in urban sport and architecture is CopenHill, a waste to energy plant with an artificial ski slope on top. It's an amazing experience, even if you can’t even stand up on skis. Although the ski run costs money, it's free to walk or run up the Garmin Track to the top, that offers views over the whole of the city and Øresund. Not that energetic? It's also free to take the elevator.

Have fun and chill out at Absalon

The most amazing culture center in Vesterbro is a former church, that’s now a living room, café and hobby room, all in one. It's free to enter Absalon, have a game of table tennis or play a board game from the center collection. The coffee is cheap, the people are friendly and you can stay as long as you like – it’s open pretty much all day. They also serve a communal evening meal and for Dkr50 you can take part in dancing, yoga, lectures and boy band bingo.
