Where to stay in Sarajevo

Compared with most capital cities Sarajevo offers great quality accommodation at a remarkably low price. Even five star hotels are a fraction of what you would expect elsewhere, without the need to compromise on quality. Here are a few of the better options.

Hotel Europe

Probably the best location in the city center, with almost everything within easy walking distance, this five-star modern hotel has some great views, and a lovely Viennese style café on the ground floor. Ask for a room overlooking the old market.

Holiday Inn

Locally known as "The Holiday" the hotel was built for the winter Olympics in 1984. It has a colorful background in many respects - when the builders realized it would be yellow they apparently thought it was a joke. During the Bosnian conflict international reporters stayed here and filed their daily bulletins.

Hotel Michele

Quirky bohemian boutique hotel tucked away in the back streets and favored by the likes of Bono and Richard Gere on their visits to the city. Each room is huge, all decorated individually.

Radon Plaza

Slightly further away from the city center, the futuristic structure is one of the most modern sights in the city, offering five-star quality at a very reasonable price.
