Fish dishes for the whole family
Hooked
Fish may not attract all children to the dinner table, but a Fish & Chips at Hooked is the exception that proves the rule. Relaxed atmosphere and colorful arrangements contribute to the joy of eating, and all ingredients meet sustainability requirements. The fish restaurant can be found in several places in Copenhagen, we recommend Kødbyen with lots of exciting things to look at and large areas for playful children.
Scandi style classics
Restaurant Karla
At cozy Karla, traditional Scandinavian cuisine and smørrebrød are served. On the children's menu you will find a variety of classic Danish dishes at affordable prices. Satisfied, you can then head up the steps to the nearby National Museum. There is a separate section for children packed with interactive activities such as a medieval kitchen and a school from the 1930s - and nothing is forbidden to touch.
Communal dining at Absalon
Absalon
Absalon is Vesterbro’s hip cultural center, housed in a former church. It offers everything from yoga, sewing circles, chess and movie nights to table tennis, coffee and communal dining. Every evening at 6pm you can experience communal dining for 50-100 DKr – and children under 3 eat free. You just need to show up at 5pm to buy a ticket, or purchase it online, and then enjoy the wonderful atmosphere, great food and good company for adults and children alike. Bonus: There’s a fantastic playground in Skydebanehaven just a few blocks away.
Grandma’s house
Mormors
Come on home to grandma’s house, complete with knick-knacks, embroidered cushions and decorative lamps. It always feels like a Sunday at Mormors, with its delicious home-baked goodies, sandwiches, hot cocoa (with extra whipped cream) and good coffee. There’s a warm welcome for young and old alike and they don’t skimp on anything – we’re at grandma’s after all! Bonus: Close to Amalienborg Palace and The Little Mermaid statue.
Dinner on the rails
Sporvejen
Most children love a trip back in time and at the Sporvejen heritage tram car in the heart of Copenhagen they can eat their fill of burgers, potato wedges and omelets in a unique atmosphere. There are crayons and tram picture books for the little ones to color in while they’re waiting.
Classic lunch options
Bistro Royal
Visit Bistro Royal for generous dishes inspired by both French and Danish cuisine. At lunchtime you will find classic, child-friendly bistro options such as salads, burgers and fish, while the evening menu features selected dishes and appetizers such as top-quality meat and fresh seafood. During the summer, you can also enjoy the restaurant’s outdoor terrace overlooking Kongens Nytorv.
Football on the menu
Baglokalet
Baglokalet looks like a football club but is actually a restaurant with several delicious, child-friendly options on the menu. Here you eat with a view of long, green football fields, something appreciated by even the most impatient children.
