Situated idyllically on the shores of the Limfjord is Aalborg’s shimmering Utzon Center for design and architecture. Designed by acclaimed Danish architect Jørn Utzon – an icon in Danish design and perhaps best known for the Sydney Opera House. As well as architecture, art and design, the center also has a great space for the family’s youngest creative souls.

An outing to troll’s wood

A five-minute ferry ride takes you from Aalborg to the small island of Egholm out in the Limfjord. With 605 hectares of mainly farmland, Egholm is a popular destination to discover beautiful nature and several vantage points by foot or bike. Since 2020 the island has also been home to Pil Tusindtunge, a large wooden troll designed by Copenhagen artist Thomas Dambo.
